A Successful Spring & Summer Season in the Books!

The spring and summer event schedule for the Toronto Transportation Club (TTC) was a whirlwind, to say the least! The TTC team was hard at work over the winter months in preparation for our busy program. With the arrival of warmer weather, we wanted to ensure our members experienced a stellar slate of events, and, with a little help from Mother Nature, the TTC delivered!
To kick off the spring season, the TTC hosted our Margaritaville-themed Transportation Night at the beautiful Palais Royale. An unseasonable heatwave made this mid-April day feel like mid-summer – what a treat! Thanks to the quick thinking of our event producer Maggie Patten and the great team at the Palais, we were able to enjoy a beautiful cocktail hour and live music outdoors. We then moved inside, where our members and their guests enjoyed networking with colleagues, good food, and excellent music. A special thanks to Chris Petersen and Mike Kaslauskas for co-chairing this event.
Next up was our highly anticipated Spring Golf Tournament, held at RattleSnake Point Golf Club. This was a new location for the TTC, and it did not disappoint. The group of 288 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on both courses. Our golf tournaments are notorious for taking place in sub-par weather (aka torrential downpour), so the sunshine was welcomed by everyone! Thank you to the team at RattleSnake Point for making the entire day a great experience for all of our members and our guests; we will be back next year! A special thank-you to our co-chairs Tony Bianco and Mickey Sague for helping put together another great golf day.
Our final event before the summer break was the popular Ladies’ Lunch, hosted again by the Palais Royale – you just can’t beat that venue! In typical fashion, the majority of our sold-out crowd showed up before the doors even opened. They were ready to hit the patio, grab a cocktail, and network with other leaders in the transportation industry! The enthusiastic group was rewarded with an excellent meal and an inspirational talk by our featured speaker Samra Zafar. Guests were glued to their seats as Samra recounted her life story and the unbelievable adversity she has faced to be where she is today. Thank you, Samra, for sharing your story, for staying afterwards to chat with the crowd, and for providing everyone with a signed copy of your book! It’s a must read. A big thank-you goes out to Stacey Large, who chaired this event, as well as to the committee members; your hard work certainly paid off.
As always, these events could not be produced without the support from our sponsors, who are always quick to come forward. We have seen an influx of new members over the last few years and, in turn, of sponsors who feel that there is great value in being involved in our events. Our team at the TTC will continue to work on improving our events as well as growing and diversifying our membership group so everyone continues to see this value. The lifeblood of our team is our executive director Denise Cardy, who continues to work her magic behind the scenes, ensuring the TTC operates as a well-oiled machine. Thank you for your continued hard work!
With our Fall Golf Tournament right around the corner and our Pop-up happening on October 19th, I look forward to seeing everyone soon! Please reach out to me at liam@kee-hr.com or Denise Cardy at ed@torontotransportationclub.com if you have any questions about sponsorship, tickets to events, or our scholarship program. Take care!
