I hope you all had a wonderful summer! As hard as it is to believe that the season may be technically over, we know there are still plenty of warm days and comfortable nights ahead in early fall to get out and enjoy all that this awesome province has to offer before those colourful leaves drop!
Let us rewind back to summer for a minute. We kicked off the spring and summer event season with a sold-out crowd for our Spring Golf Tournament at The Country Club. The spring showers may have dampened our clothing, but the TTC spirit prevailed and a good time was had by all! Soon after that, the TTC hosted its first ever executive luncheon series, which saw some 400 guests gather at the renowned Royal York Hotel for a fabulous afternoon of industry commentary, laughs, delicious food, and some first-class networking! Soon to follow was the incredibly successful Ladies’ Lunch. Nearly 350 of the industry’s finest women professionals enjoyed an afternoon on the shores of Lake Ontario at the famed Palais Royale Ballroom. Mother Nature was very kind that day and provided stunning sunshine on the deck. A gourmet lunch followed by an outstanding panel of guest speakers were the perfect ingredients for a successful 10th anniversary! Congratulations to the organizing committee for such exceptional dedication to the continued success of this event!
On the scholarship front, the TTC is pleased to announce that 27 applications were submitted to the adjudicator in pursuit of the seven scholarships totalling $56,000 in awards over the next four academic years! Winners are being notified in the month of September and will be proudly announced at the Annual Dinner on December 1st. Many thanks to the membership of the TTC for making all this possible through ticket sales, event sponsorship, and donations. Once again, I offer special thanks to Canadian Flatbeds Ltd., Day & Ross, and the Premier Truck Group for their incredible generosity.
With fall upon us, the board of directors is busy planning for another active season, including the the 107th Annual Dinner & Gala. This year’s Gala features a star-studded panel of Canadian sports celebrities led by Sportsnet’s Ken Reid. The Hot Stove format will include NHL superstars Nick Kypreos and Wendel Clark, and, from Team Canada’s gold medal team, Tess Bonhomme and Geraldine Heaney, discussing the hot topics in Canadian sport! Come and join 1,300 of your fellow TTC members and guests for a night of unparalleled camaraderie and networking!
