It is hard to believe that only 4 months ago, 1300 of our Clubs Members gathered at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to celebrate, network and socialize, at the Largest Transportation event in North America; Toronto Transportation Club’s Annual Dinner.
To all of you who had the pleasure of attending the Annual Dinner, you may recall my mentioning that, I believe it is important to take a moment to be grateful. Today, in the face of COVID19, I am even more grateful for my children, friends and the leadership at Hargraft LP. I am equally grateful to all of you, for the Work that comes from the People within your organizations, and Leaders in the Transportation Sector. Most of all, I am grateful to all our tremendously dedicated and skilled drivers throughout the transport industry. I am not alone in being grateful for the work our drivers are doing, to facilitate all of our families and hospitals, in providing all of us safe delivery of our essential items.
I am hoping that this edition of our LINK will make it into the hands of your many drivers, and all those workers out there who keep our supply chain moving, as we have an important message to deliver to them! In 2018, our Board of Directors made an integral change to our scholarship program that was announced in 2019, which benefits all employees, including your drivers, who may not be aware as they spend so much time on the road. If you are a Corporate Member, in Ontario in good standing for 1 or more year(s) your company may put forward 5 applications from your entire Company, for the Scholarship Program. Please refer to our website for more details.
This change, not only demonstrates the Toronto Transportation Club’s commitment to our Members, but also how nimble our board members are, as we look forward to change and staying ahead of the curve, for the benefit of our Members and their families.
Speaking of staying ahead of the curve and being nimble, I am proud that our board is committed to doing our part in ensuring the safety of our network of families, as it relates to this pandemic, we are all facing, with the COVID19 virus. As the health of our members is our highest priority, our Executive Board Members, along with the support of all the Board of Directors, and the guidance of Denise Cardy and Maggie Patten, we were exceptionally nimble. We are pleased to communicate that we executed well in advance, the cancellation of our New Members Reception, as well as our Quarter Century Dinner, postponing these to 2021. The Toronto Transportation Club remains committed to its members and we are going to keep our eye on COVID19, with a view to hosting our members, in the Fall of 2020!
I know many of you are helping Canadians stay ahead of the curve, as you transitioned to working from home, self-isolating and adhering to the social distancing to help reduce the number of cases. I have been self-isolating now for 2 weeks and I am committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of others. I would be lying if I said, I do not miss all of you and the many events that the TTC hosts throughout the year. As I said at our annual dinner, “It’s not all about the parties, it’s about the relationships we form that bring value to our personal lives, and our businesses”. Now realizing more than ever, that the relationships we form are equally integral to our well-being! I am looking forward to seeing all you again, and wish everyone of you and your families much health in the coming week(s)/month(s) ahead.
We are in this together! We have a long road ahead of us, but we will reunite! Our Club is Strong! Our Industry Leaders beyond incredible, together they are collaborating and ensuring that all of our daily needs are met, with a tremendous work force of men and women, who are dedicating themselves out there every day. I am grateful, we are thankful – THANK YOU TO ALL IN OUR TRANSPORTATION NETWORK. I am tremendously proud to be a part of this Industry and to witness such incredible efforts.
Lastly, on behalf of the Board of Directors for the Toronto Transportation Club, our Executive Director, Denise Cardy, I wish to thank everyone again for their membership renewal. We look forward to announcing the application submission date for the Scholarship Program in the near future, so that you may all enjoy circulating some good news within your organizations.
