I trust you are all enjoying the summer. In spite of its slow start, I hope the entire membership is able to take advantage of some downtime and enjoy the weather.

Speaking of the weather, for the first time in many years, both our Spring Golf and Ladies on the Link tournaments had to be rescheduled due to rain.

However, to the credit of the membership, both outings still ended up being sold out and turned out to be phenomenal days. That’s what makes this club so special; the camaraderie we share for this industry keeps us engaged and always willing to get together.

The other truly special event that occurred this summer was our Ladies Lunch and Learn extravaganza. Our theme was ‘The Sky’s the Limit’ which featured our keynote speaker, the dynamic Judy Cameron, who happens to be Air Canada’s first female Captain. The lunch was both inspiring and energetic and I’d like to thank TTC Board member Kathy Cartan and her committee who tirelessly planned and organized the day. This was our largest ever Ladies Lunch with nearly 350 attendees. The success of this event illustrates the changing demographic in our industry, which is both welcomed and needed. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!

As summer winds down, the Toronto Transportation Club is back into full swing for fall events. Our lineup for the back half starts with the Power of Education Golf Tournament. This will be a one of a kind golf and dinner experience in the scenic town of The Blue Mountains. Trust me when I say it will be a day to remember! Following the tournament, we have Race Night and finally The Annual Dinner. Once again, we are returning to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for our annual Dinner. This is necessary in order to accommodate the overwhelming demand for our signature event. I can’t wait for our first VP Mike Fontaine to announce this year’s speaker – so stay tuned! All of the relevant dates for these events are on the TTC website so check it out for the most current details.

Lastly, please take the time to renew your membership for 2018; it’s never too early. The success of the club in recent years continues to exceed the expectations of the entire Board. We are proud of the club’s heritage as well as its bright future. As you know, your membership contributes to our scholarship fund and we count on each and every one of you for support. Have a great remainder of the year and I look forward to connecting with you at our next event!
