Toronto Transportation Club director

A sold-out event coupled with a new venue and record crowd, the Toronto Transportation Club’s 103rd annual dinner once again did not disappoint. In fact, we continue to set the bar higher for world class events each and every time. Congratulations to all who made this the premier and signature gala a resounding success!

From start to finish, the evening was nonstop. Our exceptional and outspoken keynote speaker was Mr. Brian Burke. Brian is currently President of Hockey Operations for the Calgary Flames, having also held the role of President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The evening was completed with a fabulous show by the incredibly talented and mutli-genre band All Access, as well as the after-hours lounge which is sure to become a tradition for this event.

One of the many highlights of the night was re-purposing the “Board of Directors Award” to be renamed ‘The John Foss Volunteer Service Award’. This was done in recognition of the tremendous time, effort and resources that John Foss has dedicated to the Toronto Transportation Club. John is a past president who has remained exceptionally active in our great organization.

As well, I should note that the creation of our second scholarship, that was announced at the 100th annual dinner, has now been awarded for the third year in a row to well-deserving young individuals. Independent adjudicator Adriano Perusin made the selection from a record number of entries. The 2016 award winners were, Alexa Moschella and Matthew Myles.

Congratulations to our deserving scholars! Of course adding a third scholarship is goal of the club and our board of directors. Together with the support of this membership we are very close to achieving this important milestone.

The Toronto Transportation Club is very fortunate to have such an incredible membership. Our past presidents are always close by to remind us of the history of the club, and to ensure that our traditions remains intact. As well I need to call out and recognize our most generous sponsors – without your support the great things we accomplish would simply not be possible.

The annual dinner is always an amazing night that improves each and every year. As we embark on 2017, I wish you all an incredible year in which we can celebrate this great industry. Please save the date for 2017 events as all our outings sell out early.
