Winter is officially over and after what seemed to be a roller coaster start to spring, it looks like it has finally arrived.
Each year we hold a reception for new members. It is a great way for the board to welcome new faces and provide an intimate networking environment. As our membership grows, so has this event. The April reception marked the highest number of attendees and was a wonderful evening of conversation and laughter. Thank you to Donna and Denise, not only for the continued focus on attracting membership, but for also hosting a great evening.
Talk about great evenings, Mike and his committee blew Transportation Night away. This event just keeps getting better. The Palais provides a spectacular venue and the format of this evening with cruiser tables and food stations keeps this night fun and casual. If that weren’t enough, It all gets topped off with a band that keeps the dance floor hopping. Who could ask for a better night of entertainment? Congratulations to Kieran O’Brian from Kee Human Resources who won the Air Canada tickets.
As spring is getting into full bloom, so is golf. Spring Golf is right around the corner with a later date of May 26th to take advantage of nicer weather (I must admit I am a fair weather golfer) and a new location, The Country Club. Please visit our website or contact Denise Cardy at Ed@torontotransportionclub.com for sponsorship opportunities.
June 14th is Ladies Lunch & Learn at The Palais Royale. If you haven’t attended this event or sent a group of Ladies from your office, shame on you. This event is one of the best networking events for women. The room is always a buzz of energy and excitement. Our keynote speaker this year is Annette Verschuren, Chair & CEO of NRStor Inc. (previously President of The Home Depot Canada and Asia). Our theme is “You’re Going to Hear Us Roar”. It promises to be a fantastic day. Don’t miss out!
We will be launching a pop-up Golf Clinic event in July. Mark your calendar to check our website early June for more information.
John Foss and Peter Collins always keep us on our toes with new twists for the Power of Education Golf Classic. This year’s event takes place on September 15th and they are really changing it up. For starters, we are moving from Muskoka to Collingwood. They have a few surprises up their sleeves to keep everyone entertained.
Race Night at Woodbine is back on October 5th.
Last year our annual dinner attracted record numbers. After several discussions, we have decided we need to move to a larger venue to be able to support our membership. This year’s event will take place on December 8th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Mark your calendars with this new date and venue. Gary Fast and his committee are planning an event that you will not want to miss.
While spring is barely here, it is an important time of year for students getting acceptances to University and College and planning the next stage of their lives. The Toronto Transportation Club supports these dreams by offering financial assistance through its scholarship program. Please visit our website to get information on eligibility and the application process. The dates are coming up quickly.
