2016 TTC Spring Golf Tournament

Toronto Transportation Club director

It was all about new opportunities and “mixing it up” for this year TTC Golf Tournament. The weather was certainly one of the prominent items to enjoy the “Mixing it up” theme. While we were greeted by grey skies upon our arrival at our spectacular new venue, “The Country Club” at Woodbridge, outside of a 30 minute rain delay the weather was fantastic. The final finishing holes were played under bright blue skies and warm sunshine. The popularity of this tournament continues to be strong which is evident by our 260 strong members and guests and the earliest sellout in the history of this tournament.

Putting on such a popular tournament is not the easiest of tasks let alone adding a change of venue to The Country Club. The Board Members, the Golf Committee, Staff at The Country Club and Volunteers go to great lengths to ensure we have a fantastic event year in and year out. We received great feedback about the course and the event this year so this hard work clearly paid off. We also tried to add a few new items with “Beat the Leaf” and “the Great Wall” just to keep things interesting and fresh. A heartfelt “Thank You” to all that were involved we had another successful Tournament. We also encourage people to give feedback each year so please do so to a TTC board member or please send comments to Denise Cardy at ed@torontotransportationclub.com. To date we have received feedback about the drink tickets and BBQ which we have already addressed. If there is one thing I have learned about this tournament a cold beer and a hamburger are paramount to its success (LOL).

I would like to congratulate our two wining foursomes of Waltco and CH Robinson for shooting two great scores despite the new track and layout. Also I would like to congratulate the winners of ladies longest drive Kelly Howell, ladies closet to the pin Jen Dunn, men’s longest drive Jeff Collett, Men’s closet to the hole winner Kevin MacDonnell. With the added items of the signed Leaf Jersey, Leaf Tickets, Prints, paintings TV’s, foursomes, etc. I believe this is one of the more prosperous years for our members and their guests.

No event can be a success without our sponsors. The TTC and it’s board truly want to thank each and every sponsor that generously donated to this great event. From the Hole in one of Hargraft Schofield to CP/CN sponsoring our Breakfast and Lunch plus a host of others the success of this tournament can not be achieved without these most kind donations. Lakeside Logistics sponsored our beer cart, thank you for your generosity. Again, a very big a round of applause and thank you to all our donors!!!

I also wanted to thank the golf committee and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event such a success. So Nicole Methven and Mike Fontaine and a big “thank you”. Mike was single handily responsible for the “Beat the Leaf” event. It goes without saying that we need a top venue for this event and we may have found a new home at “The Country Club”. It is one of the best places to have a tournament of this size in the GTA. The staff, course, food, beverages etc. were all fantastic and we could not have asked for more so we are very appreciative of their efforts.

So please do give your feedback, it is very much appreciated. I want to remind everyone of our next TTC event “Ladies Lunch and Learn” for those who have tickets we will see you there. Golf caps off to all for being a part of this great great day and I wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy summer!!!!!
